1.
You are so alive You are so alive I can feel your shape in my hands Even though it’s been so long since I held you They say that grief runs dry And transforms into dust But my oh my it hurts You are so alive You are so alive If you were watching Would you be laughing or crying? Would you even choose to watch at all? We were born to love the wild night The field frames the view The wind blows through The gate swings shut [La la la la la] You are so alive You are so alive
2.
In The Sun 04:26
In the sun we try to forget about it We raise our hands and laugh into the sky First bus coming for us It’s cutting through the streets between the cars Wooden box, wooden boat On my desk a handwritten note of dreams, desires Don’t look down there’s moss on the ground And over the lake a little stone bridge caked in mud Do you remember the way we used to feel Before being crushed by the weight By the choice In the sun we try to forget about it We raise our hands and laugh into the sky This big world A bright white pearl Drifting through and up into the cosmos, all over us A bale of hay, a broken bike Summer’s here but I can tell it’s passing, leaving A thousand kind of hidden lives Tucked into the seams of our beds, we rest our heads A house burned down to the ground We all walked past and barely said a thing We didn’t look
3.
Rain 04:12
Rain rolling across the Thames The city’s cut in two And now we are too A grey mountain of waves Crashing over Into the pines and Rolling into forever Now we look at the world together I can see the lines Trapped in a crowded space Forever climbing high This city is on its side This city is on its side And just like that the night passed We had to let the day break I held us and kissed us I had to forgive us The day sobbed The park laughed at us I just stood and watched As we became strangers
4.
5.
Talulah 04:33
Hey Talulah I see you there Curled up behind a locked door It’s not your fault It’s not your fault You’re so strong You’ve done nothing wrong You’ve done nothing wrong Heal slowly You might heal slowly But just as a seed breaks open Your heart will grow again As we walk Between the chalk Across the clay Atop the ridge Once more you opened my vice You kept me moving out of the shell I had become I had become When I lost myself For someone else For someone else
6.
To be or to serve To be or to serve With a clearer mind You can see the mind of others more clearly But right now You’re looking at the sky with your eyes closed Silently we said the words Effortlessly I was myself I held onto a version of you Then we stepped right out into the woods To be or to serve To be or to serve That twisted stump looks like a deer’s leg And there’s a crucifix made out of twigs People without homes live out here The cliff was crying as I walked by
7.
I’m held in the sound of the cage Of a butterfly’s wings flapping We’re all forgetting who we are Who am I in this moment? Walking alone In the tall room We were dancing I was holding you The way I used to The way I always will We’re bathed in a blue glow And I can feel the space between our feet The walls are shaking, bones are breaking And I’m out in the hills I’m down on one knee The walkers smile knowingly In the tall room We were dancing I was holding you The way I used to The way I always will
8.
Lucille 04:06
I woke up from a dream There were blackbirds falling from the trees I could feel my heart beating in my teeth A softness came up over me Lucille on the bed Bare skin, white sheets Bird song from the rafters Love spilling out like laughter Lucille on the bed Interconnected To everyone and the breath Love spilling out Love spilling out Love spilling out Love spilling out I thought that the train had left the station But the train was a mirage And I was standing in the heat I could feel the image fading I was drifting away Towards the sunlit canyon And a block of clay Dust and carousels Home And so we start again And so we start again
9.
Open Sea 03:51
10.
Exhaustion 04:25
Exhaustion is a feature of the system Oppression colours every transaction I’m looking for soft space I’m reaching for formless space I’m searching for shapes in the clouds You said we’d talk again But then you disappeared A soft hand reaching out Right in front of me Defences melting And I’m just sitting here We breathe the same air Until we don’t And then the silence came A creature without a name A lie so intricate it intoxicates Don’t cry, don’t let yourself cry We did it again We did it again
11.
A narrow road tumbling on I said hello to the trees Watching over me Lucid, rooted dreams Crafting slowly in the morning Softly floating above the chair Eternity, transient, surrounding us A waterfall, a full moon, the rocks Watching over me Lucid, rooted dreams

about

Over the course of two acclaimed EPs - 2020s self-titled offering and 2021s ‘Silhouettes’ - Meadow Meadow have carved out a singular sound of delicate tones and rich textures, where compositions of strings and brass rub shoulders with subtle electronics and sampled sounds. The upcoming milestone on this creative path is ‘You Are So Alive’, a debut record of 11 tracks which, even within the same song, effortlessly swings from hushed moments to soaring crescendos. Leaving the boisterous guitar thrash of their old band Spring King behind, but bringing their unquestionable knack for ear worm hooks and melodies, Peter, James, Maya and Holly of Meadow Meadow are crafting something truly special on ‘You Are So Alive’.
